Obituary of Mrs. Mildred Irene Esham
Mildred Irene Esham, 88, of Dagsboro passed away in the care of her family and the Delaware Hospice at her residence on Mother's Day, May, 14, 2017. She was born in Selbyville, DE on June 19, 1928 to the late James and Hattie Bunting Shockley. She was married, and widowed twice in the loss of two spouses: Russell J. Davis and Paul J. Esham. Between them, she had five children, losing two of them early in life. She was a devout Christian woman who loved, and lived for children. She was devoted to her family and to church, and kept an immaculate house. She loved flowers. She was a member of the Selbyville Assembly of God.
She is survived by three children: Valerie Chandler, and husband Terry, of Millsboro: Laverne Gland, of Millsboro; and Barry J. and wife Tammy, of Dagsboro. She is also survived by a sister: Pricilla Butler, of Millsboro; four grandchildren: Timothy Chandler; Merrill Mitchell; Jamie Esham; and Brandon Esham. She has two great grandchildren: Timothy Chandler, Jr.; and Travis Griffith. Also surviving are extended family members, and many, many friends. Mildred thought the world of everybody, and everybody was her friend.
In addition to her parents, and two spouses, she was preceded by two sons: Russell Davis and William Davis; and three siblings: Martin Shockley; Russell Shockley, and Gary Lee Shockley.
A Memorial Service, and Celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, May 18, 2017 at the Watson Funeral Home, Millsboro, DE with Pastor Leroy Weymouth officiating. Interment follows at Beth El Tabernacle, Clarksville, DE.
