OBITUARY OF MINNIE (BELLE) SINGLETARY
Minnie (Belle) Singletary departed this life on November 30, 2020 at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes, DE. She was born on April 5, 1926 to the late George and Lula Hagans in Wilson County, NC.
Belle, as she was called, married the love of her life, Franklin Singletary in October 1947. They moved to Delaware in 1949. From this union four children were born, Ben, Crama, Lemuel, and Christopher.
Belle attended Dorton High in Wilson, NC. until the 11th grade. They did not have 12th grade at that time.
Belle worked at the Coral and Sands for twenty-five plus years and was also a volunteer at the Roxanna Cheer Center for thirty plus years.
Belle and Frank started their road to salvation in 1952 at St. John's AME Church, where she served on many auxiliaries until 2013. Belle was the AME Woman Missionary Society Area President for her district. She was honored as a life member. She was also a member of Crossroad Community Church in Georgetown, DE.
Belle is preceded in death by her parents, George and Lula Hagans; husband, Frank; son, Christopher; and brothers, Dave, Pope, Albert, Melvin, Isaac, and George Hagans.
She leaves to mourn, son Ben Singletary (Beverly) of Millsboro; daughter Crama Hardy of Las Vegas, Nevada; son Lemuel Singletary (Suzanne) of Fayetteville, NC; one brother William Hagans of Houston, Texas; sisters Mary Hillard of Selbyville, DE., Sarah Smith, Etta Roberts, both from NC.; and Arsmithe Harris of Richmond, VA. Fifteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, and one great-great-great grandchild and a host of in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 7, 2020 at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, DE 19966, where friends may call from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM for viewing and visitation. Interment will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic guidelines face masks and social distancing will be requited as well as limited seating.
