We were classmates at Fork Union Military Academy, spending rich hours of fun in transit going and coming on leave which eligibility was dictated by academic and disciplinary qualifications. His father, Nels II, transported us on occasion with Nick Varrato onboard for company, sharing many joyous stories and time together. He employed a quiet assurance and sustained intellect; always a reliable and genuine friend.
