Patricia Long's Obituary
Mrs. Patricia Long of Gumboro, DE passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at home surrounded by her family. She was 79 years old.
She was born in Lewes, DE on February 22, 1944, to the late Clark and Hazel Timmons Decker. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Bob Long in 2015, a daughter Mary Caudill and a brother John T. Decker.
Mrs. Long attended John M. Clayton High School. She was a dedicated homemaker and mother who also worked at Stockley Center as an attendant for many years. Mrs. Long was a lifelong member of the Gumboro Ladies Auxiliary and was committed to serving her community. She helped prepare many turkey and oyster dinners held at the fire hall over the years. She enjoyed reading, writing, and bird watching. Mrs. Long will be remembered for her kind, gentle and sweet spirit and her willingness to help others. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by daughters; Kathy Long, Melody Jo Morgan (Archie) and bonus daughter Diana Harrison; as well as three brothers: Clark (Bonnie), George (Tracy) and Mark (Kathy) Decker and a son-in-law Tim Delp. Mrs. Long was blessed with five grandchildren: James, Christopher (Brandi) Joshua (Christy) Jerry (Shannon) and Quinton along with seven great grandchildren: Desiree (Matt), Jordan (Lani), Leah (Mike), Alyssa, Zach, Ethan and Laci as well as three great great grandchildren Jaxson, Lilly and Brooklyn. She is also survived by extended family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, DE 19966, where the viewing will be held from 10:00 AM – 11:00 Am.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Gumboro Community Center, 36849 Millsboro Hwy, Millsboro, DE 19966.
