Patricia A. Maselli's Obituary
Patricia (Pat) Ann Maselli, 68, of Millsboro, DE, unexpectedly passed away on Friday March 3rd, 2023, surrounded by family at HCA Florida Citrus Hospital in Inverness, FL. Pat was born on March 30th, 1954, in Elizabeth, NJ to her late parents Edward and Rita Chewey. Pat was the youngest of the three Chewey girls, with older sisters Kathleen Pollock and the late Marilyn Budd.
Pat is survived by her husband of 45 years, Lou Maselli, her daughter Andrea Slattery and son Nicholas Maselli. She is also survived by her grandchildren Juliet Maselli, Jodie Maselli, Sadie Slattery, and James Slattery as well as her daughter-in-law and son-in-law Katie Maselli and Dan Slattery. Pat is also survived by her oldest sister Kathleen Pollock, sisters-in-law Sandra Monin and Donna Guidotti, and brothers-in-law Alex Pollock, Bob Monin, Lee Budd, and Marty Guidotti. Pat also will be remembered by her nieces and nephews she loved dearly: Meredith and Ed Hung, Matthew and Joan Monin, Lindsay and Todd Nolan, Randy and Meredith Pollock, Ryan Pollock, Christina and Bob Brobak, and Anna, CJ McGovern, Laura and John Levy, and Eryn and Scott Pearl. She will also be remembered by the many lifelong friends she made in college, through her career, in retirement, and her many cousins across the East Coast and in Guiliano, Italy.
Pat pursued a career in nursing by studying at Niagara University in New York starting in 1972. There she made lifelong friends through her roommates at college, and eventually met her future husband, Louis (Lou) Maselli. She received her BSN and started her career as a nurse in Baltimore, MD at John’s Hopkins Hospital.
Pat and Lou married in 1977, and eventually settled and raised their family with their two children Andrea and Nicholas in Hackettstown, NJ. Pat advanced her career studying and commuting nights and weekends to earn a master's in health administration at Seton Hall. Over her long career in public health, she worked as Director of Nursing and eventually Director at multiple nursing home facilities across the state of New Jersey. Pat then consulted in the nursing informatics field towards the end of her career and before retirement.
Lou and Pat retired to Millsboro, DE, which was close by to her sister Kathleen Pollock and to the ocean where she liked to sit and have breakfast some mornings. Pat became active volunteering with Meals on Wheels, served one year as President of the Millsboro Garden Club, and was heavily involved and proud in maintaining the gardens and assisting the food pantry for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul at Our Lady Guadelupe Catholic Church. Pat also liked to golf with friends and attend local theater and concerts near Bethany and Rehoboth Beaches.
Nothing was more important to Pat than family and the many friends she had made over the years. Pat always kept in touch and made sure despite the distance family and friends would get together for holidays and events. Pat loved taking pictures and selfies with some of her favorite people, mostly her grandchildren Juliet, Jodie, Sadie, and James. Pat, despite her strong work ethic, always liked to have fun, listen to music, laugh, and perhaps even get in a little trouble from time to time. Pat will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Visitation and viewing will be held on Sunday March 12th, 2023, from 2-4pm at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, DE.
