Pearl Ellen Holston's Obituary
Pearl Ellen (Swain) Holston, 85, passed away on September 9, 2024. She was born to the late Norman W. Swain and Florence (Spicer) Swain.
Pearl was a cherished member of her community, working for 26 years as a cafeteria worker at Sussex Central High School in Georgetown, DE. She held various other positions throughout her life but was best known for her warm presence and dedication. Pearl had a passion for cooking shows on the Food Network and religious programs, which she faithfully tuned into every Sunday.
Pearl is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Clifford Holston Sr., her brother Norman P. Swain, her sister Norma Lee (Swain) Quillen, and their daughter Nancy Ellen Holston.
Pearl is survived by her loving son Clifford Holston Jr. and his fiancée Joy Bertrand of Georgetown, DE. She is also survived by her devoted grandson and caretaker Jeffery Bradley of Georgetown, DE; her two sisters: Irene Moore (Bobby Moore) of Harrington, DE, and Clara Louise (Swain) Adams Wootten of Georgetown, DE; and her cousin, Pat Gordon (Harry Gordon) of Georgetown, DE, who she would say was more like a sister to her. Pearl is also remembered fondly by numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 16, at Watson Funeral Home & Crematorium, Millsboro, DE. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Interment will be private.
Pearl's family and friends will remember her for her loving heart, steadfast faith, and unwavering dedication to those she cared about. She will be deeply missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Carey's Cemetery Perpetual Care, C/O Don Ward, 25051 Ward Farm Lane, Millsboro, DE, or to a charity of your choice to honor Pearl’s memory.
