Raymond Edward Dorey's Obituary
Mr. Raymond Edward Dorey of Millsboro, DE passed quietly from his earthly home to his eternal home on Friday, October 13, 2023. He was 93 years old.
He was born November 3, 1929, in Millsboro to the late Raymond and Dorothy Moore Dorey. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two infant sisters.
Edward graduated from Millsboro High School, Class of 1947, and worked with his father, who was a master mason. On September 19, 1949, he married Louise Davis. The couple became poultry farmers with a small house capacity of 3000 chicks. He took a job with Collins & Ryan, Inc. as a service man. The company later became Suburban Propane. After 29 years, he retired as service manager.
He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Louise Dorey of Millsboro, DE; one daughter Lou Ann Rieley (John) of Millsboro and one son, Todd Dorey of Millsboro. Edward was blessed with eleven grandchildren: Shaun (Leigh) of Hyattsville, MD, Michael (Lauren) of Millsboro, DE, Mark of Millsboro, DE; Katelyn (Ben) of Tampa, FL, Megan (Stephen) of Millsboro, DE, Kelly (Christopher) of Millsboro, DE, Erin McCall (Cliff) of Milton, DE, Thomas (Dani) of Helena, MT, Chris (Samantha) of Laurel, DE, James (Deanna) of Millsboro, DE and Matthew (Lilly) of Millsboro, DE, as well as twenty seven great grandchildren. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, his Zoar Church family, countless friends, and a host of unrelated young people who called him Pop Pop Dorey.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Watson Funeral Home & Crematorium, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, DE 19966, where the viewing will be from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Interment will be private at Millsboro Cemetery.
