ROBERT GEORGE ALLSOP , SR.'s Obituary
Robert George Allsop, Sr.
Robert George Allsop, Sr., age 71 of Lewes, DE passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on September 23, 2015.
He leaves his wife of 47 years, Bernadette Hopkins Allsop; son Robert Allsop, Jr. (and his wife Maggie) of Philadelphia; daughter Kimberly Rose Kane of Clayton, DE; brothers William Allsop (and his wife Janet) of Phoenixville, Richard Allsop of Philadelphia; grandchildren Heather Allsop, Dylan Kane and Brooke Kane, as well as many sisters-in-laws, brothers-in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late William and Helen Allsop. He served in the United States Army where he drove a tank. Mr. Allsop retired from L-3 Communications in Philadelphia, PA where he was a wireman for 40 years. He was a lifelong Philadelphia sports fan of the Eagles, Phillies and Flyers.
He will be dearly missed by his wife and family, and remembered for his constant good cheer and smile. Most recently he was admired by everyone who knew him for his strength and will. He refused to let his illness stop him from caring for his beloved wife and family, continuing to take care of their home, his cherished cat Sasha; and making sure that his squirrels and birds were fed every day.
A special thanks to the staff of Tunnell Cancer Center for their compassion and care for Robert during his illness.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on September 28, 2015 at Watson Funeral Home at 211 S. Washington Street, Millsboro, DE 19966, where a viewing will be held from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM. Burial with military honors will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
In Lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be sent to Leukemia Society, 961 Marcon Blvd #452, Allentown, PA 18109 or Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
