ROBERT WAYNE BAKER, SR's Obituary
Mr. Robert W. Baker, Sr. of Gumboro, DE passed away on Friday, January 9, 2015. He was 59 years old. Mr. Baker was born in Salisbury, MD on December 18, 1955 to the late Harold Walter Baker and Edith Marie Toomey Baker who survives him. In addition to his father, he is also preceded in death by a son, Robert Wayne Baker, Jr. in 2000, a sister, Mary Whaley, a brother, Wayne Baker and a grandson Aiden Michael Savage. Robert was a member of First Baptist Church in Georgetown, DE. He owned and operated his own painting business. He was devoted to his family, and especially enjoyed watching them participate in sports. He loved singing at church. Robert liked to cook and he was known for his good fried chicken. He was a loving father, husband and grandfather. He was always a very prompt man; arriving a little early to be sure he was on time. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Cheryl Savage Baker of Gumboro, DE, one daughter, Brandy Marie Givans and her husband Gary of Laurel, DE, two sons, Jesse Michael Savage and his wife Wendy of Georgetown, DE, and Carlton T. Baker of Gumboro, DE, a brother, Michael Baker and his wife Erma of Blades, DE and a sister, Lisa Hernandez of Seaford, DE along with five grandchildren, Tyler, Zachary, Peyton, Talan, and Avery. He is also survived by his feline friend ""Misty"" as well as many cousins, friends and extended family members. A viewing will be held from 6 PM - 8 PM on Monday, January 12, 2015 at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, DE 19966. Friends may also call on Tuesday one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. The funeral will take place at 11:00 on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at the First Baptist Church, 20304 DuPont Blvd, Georgetown, DE 19947. Burial will follow in Millsboro Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in Robert's memory to First Baptist Church, 20304 DuPont Blvd, Georgetown, DE 19947 or HEPHZIBAH Children's Home, 6601 Zebulon Road, Macon, GA 31220.
