Robert Paul Cox's Obituary
Robert “Bob” Paul Cox, born January 16, 1954, in Wilmington, Delaware, passed away suddenly on September 23, 2024, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, at the age of 70.
Bob was raised in Claymont, Delaware, the beloved son of the late William Dana and Mildred Ada (Derrickson) Cox. Bob spent 45 years as an automotive mechanic where his work ethic and passion for helping others through his trade were well-known in the community. As Bob was blessed with grandchildren, he chose to retire to Georgetown, DE to be closer to his son and family.
Bob was an avid outdoorsman, finding joy in hunting, fishing, and tending to his garden. He spent many years hunting in Morris, PA, with lifelong friends prior to moving to Georgetown. However, his greatest joy came from spending time with his three grandchildren, who were the light of his life. Bob could be found at their sporting events, taking them on 4-wheeler rides or swimming with them in the pool.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Barbara McCann, and his brothers Donald Cox and William Cox, Jr. Robert is survived by his loving son, Eric Myers (Brandy), his adored grandchildren Lauren, Lyndsey, and Blake Myers, his sister Carol Wissler and brother Raymond Cox.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at 2:00PM at Watson Funeral Home & Crematorium, 211 South Washington Street, Millsboro, DE, where friends and family may call beginning at 1:00PM for a visitation for family and friends to celebrate Bob’s life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Bob’s name to the Millsboro Fire Department at P.O. Box 83 Millsboro, DE 19966.
