Obituary of Robert Behney (Pennypacker) Hinkle:
Robert Behney (Pennypacker) Hinkle, or “Bob” as many knew him, passed away at his home in Millsboro on March 17, 2023. Bob was formerly of Wayne, PA. He was born in Paoli, Pennsylvania on July 4, 1933. Though born with the surname Pennypacker, Bob was adopted by the late Frederick Stephen and Natalie Collette Hinkle as a child, who adored him. He was a contractor and designer, and owner/operator of his own company and owned gifts shops. He completely refurbished a three story Victorian home in Wayne, PA. He had an impeccable reputation as an incredibly competent designer, and virtually everyone who met him whether as a customer, or visitor always left his office with a smile because he had such a pleasant and captivating personality. Prior to starting his own company, he served in the US Army as a Military Police Specialist from 1953 through 1955 on active duty, and then remained in the Army Reserves until 1961.
Bob is survived by his wife of 30 years, Isabell who he adored, and felt that when he met her, his life truly began. Other survivors include his step-son John F. Dougherty, III and his wife Anna Marie, of Swarthmore, PA; his grandson: Luke Reese, of Malvern, PA; and a daughter-in-law: Megan Reese. Also surviving are his grandchildren: Amanda; Young John; and Belle. And his many friends and neighbors.
Bob was preceded by his grandfather, Jacob Moses Pennypacker and a son: Jeffrey Hinkle.
A memorial service is planned for Thursday, April 20, 2023 at 2:00 PM, in the Chapel at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro conducted by: Dr. James Van Der Wall with the conferring of Military Honors. Inurnment follows in the Memoriall Wall.
