ROBERT FRANCIS JOWDER's Obituary
Mr. Robert F. Jowder "Bones" of Selbyville, DE passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at the Delaware Veterans Home in Milford. He was 87 years old.
Robert was born in Phoenixville, PA on August 18, 1929 to the late Michael and Bertha Liptak Jowder. In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by his four siblings.
He worked for Scott Paper and Foamex as a Machine Operator for approximately 36 years before retiring. Bob was the first Union President at Scott Paper in Eddystone. He also had a landscaping business and loved all flowers, especially roses.
Robert was a proud, decorated US Marine Sniper. He volunteered to be the first human shot test for the Kevlar "Bullet Proof Vest". While serving in the Marines, he once jumped on the stage and kissed Marilyn Monroe! He was so proud of that! He was a Golden Glove Boxer in his younger years. His family described him as the "Energizer Bunny". He loved dancing, singing, fishing, boating, animals and he just loved life. He could play the spoons and bones, a lost art today. Bob could break out in song at any moment...he was quite the entertainer and sang with the Barbershop singers in De for years.

Bob was a devoted husband to his beloved wife "Marth" as well as a father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, friend and will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 32 year, Mary Louise Jowder "Marth" of Ocean Pines, MD., four children, Robert Jowder,Jr.,and his wife Teresa, Abby Jowder, Ann Marie Jowder and Julie Jowder. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Robert III, Michael, Christa, Alycia, Troy, Dawn, Christina, Thomas and Kimberly, and four great grandchildren as well as his canine friend "Sparky".
A viewing will be held from 10AM - 12PM on Monday, December 12, 2016 at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, DE 19966. A chapel service will follow at 1:00PM at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Wounded Warriors, 7020 A.C. Skinner Pkwy, Suite 100, Jacksonville, FL 32256.
