Obituary of Mr. Robert Lee Knight
Robert Lee Knight, age 70, was born November 17, 1949. He departed this life on October 11, 2020 at his home in Lincoln, Delaware.
Robert was the son of the late Ethel Knight of Bridgeville, Delaware
During his formative years he attended Ross' Point public school. After graduation he was drafted and served in the United States Army from 1970 - 1971. He was a decorated soldier who was awarded a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 1 BS, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Dev, Good Conduct Medal and a Marksman Medal. Shortly after retiring from the army he went on to work for the State of Delaware Highway Department.
His hobby was collecting antiques especially bicycles. He loved attending sales and auctions.
Robert leaves to mourn a daughter, Franchetta Satchell Jones (Antoine) of Laurel, DE.; a brother Thomas E. Knight of Seaford, DE.; five sisters, Gloria E. Rogers (Ross) of Frankford, DE.; Theresa M. Johnson of Seaford, DE.; Andrea B. Knight of Norfolk, VA.; Mashell D. Knight of Philadelphia, PA.; and Trudeanna K. Neal of Portsmouth, VA.; and one grandson Jhysir Jones of Laurel, DE. Robert is preceded in death by two sisters, Lillie K. Johnson of Frankford, DE. and Sherita L. Doughty of Georgetown, DE. He also leaves to mourn a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday October 21, 2020 at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, DE 19966, where friends may call from 10 AM - 11 AM for viewing and visitation. Interment will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Due to the Coronavirus restrictions masks and social distancing will be required.
