Obituary of Robert Ray Rogers
"Stump"
Robert Ray Rogers, known to his friends as "Stump" passed away at his home on December 26, 2016. He was 74 years old. Born in Frankford, DE on December 27, 1941, he was the son of the late Joshua Elwood and Elma Frances Brasure Rogers. He was married to Esther Atkins on Jan. 20, 1962 and together raised a son, Keith and many grandchildren. He was retired and had worked several jobs including being a supervisor at NCR Corporation and the night courier for Omni Bank. He loved horse racing, baseball, basketball and all sports. He was an outgoing, friendly man and was very devoted to his family. He was a nice person who loved to talk, and quickly made friends.
In addition to his wife, Esther, who survives him, he is survived by his son, Keith and his wife Felicia of Georgetown. He also has two sisters: Josephine Hamblin, and her husband, John, of Georgetown; and Kathleen Steen, and husband Gerald, of Dagsboro. Stump also is survived by his beloved four grandchildren: Brandi Jones and husband David; Lindsey Walls, and husband Robbie; Alec Rogers; and Chelsie Rogers. He also has four great-grandchildren: Aubrey Jones; Kennedi Jones; Remie Jones; and Colton Rogers. He leaves behind many extended family members and friends across the area, and also his beloved feline friends, "Baby" and "Puffetta."
A funeral service and Celebration of His Life will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington Street, Millsboro, Delaware with Pastor Robert Hudson officiating. Friends may call for visitation and viewing one hour prior from Noon till 1:00 PM. Interment follows at Millsboro Cemetery. Flowers are welcomed or memorial contributions to the Delaware SPCA, Georgetown, DE.
