Robert W. Stephens' Obituary
Robert William Stephens, of Millsboro, Delaware, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2026, at Delaware Hospice in Milford, Delaware.
Born on December 13, 1934, in Selbyville, Delaware, Robert was the son of the late Horace Clifton Stephens Sr. and Edna Mae Stephens. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Horace Stephens Jr. and Howard Stephens, and his sister, Shirley Bunting.
Robert worked on his family farm in his early years and graduated from Selbyville High School, where he was a member of the basketball team. He was formerly employed at the Worcester County Developmental Center in Newark, Maryland. Robert was a lifetime member of Sound United Methodist Church and an active member of the Gideons. He enjoyed watching sports of all kinds, especially horse racing.
In 1974, Robert married Marie Morris Bunting. Through this marriage, her children—Coleman Bunting, Elaine Bunting Gordy, Morris Bunting, and Chester Bunting—became his beloved stepchildren and a special part of his life.
Robert is survived by his sons, Jeffrey and Brian; his stepchildren; 11 nieces and nephews; as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Brian and Jeff welcome family and close friends to join them in celebrating Robert’s life at 12:00PM on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at the Dagsboro American Legion Post 24, 28181 Nine Foot Rd, Dagsboro, DE 19939. Interment services will be private.
