ROLAND EDDIE BANKS, JR.'s Obituary
Roland Eddie Banks of Harbeson, DE, was born on August 13, 1955 in Brooklyn, New York. He passed away peacefully on December 17, 2015 at Delaware Hospice, Milford, Delaware. He was60 years old.
Eddie attended the Milford School District in his early years of school. He enjoyed playing baseball, and thought he was a pretty good pitcher. He also played football for Milford. He would later graduate from Lake Forest High School, Felton, Delaware in the Class of 1974. Upon graduation from high school, Eddie enlisted in the United States Army; his service was brief due to medical related issues. On February 15, 1992, Eddie married the love of his life, Lorretta Canady who preceded him in 2012.
And later he would join his wife, in membership, at the United Deliverance Bible Center, Laurel under the leadership of Pastor Catherine Camper. He was active in various auxiliaries during that time.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, he had a great sense of humor, being an amateur photographer at family gatherings, fishing, working on vehicles, especially his race car, and was a regular handyman with his greatest accomplishment being an addition to their home. Eddie spent most of his adult life as a professional truck driver. He was worked for several employers before becoming co-owner, and operator of E & L Trucking Company. He retired when his health began to fail him.
Eddie was also predeceased by Mocile Williams, Roland Banks, Carter Williams, and John Boone.
Eddie is survived by two sons, Darrell Canady and Carlos Benson; one daughter, Juanquetta Howell; mom, Georgia Boone; three brothers, James Midgett (Willie Mae), Anthony Williams (Michelle) and Johnny Boone; eight sisters, Yolanda Phillips (Dallas), Roslyn Williams Crouell (Earl), Bonnie McCloud (Willie), Sheila Smith (D.Truman), Charlotte Boone, Jennifer Boone and Jacqueline Young; three aunts, Mary Stokes, Margaret McCoy and Emma Carmen; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at the United Deliverance Bible Center, 532 W. 7th St. Laurel, DE 19956, where friends may call from 10 AM - 12Noon. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Millsboro, DE.
