Obituary of Mr. Roland Paul Placente:
Roland Paul "Pee Wee" Placente, 74, of Dagsboro and formerly of Burlington Township, NJ passed away at home on June 2, 2016. He was born on June 9, 1941 to the late Albert and Lucy Hall Placente in Burlington City, NJ. He was a graduate of Burlington City High School, in 1959 and enlisted in the US Coast Guard serving for four years. He was a life-long fireman with Independent Fire Company #1, and also was a New Jersey Turnpike employee for 27 years. He was a member and past Commander of the American Legion Post 24, and a Sussex District Executive Committeeman. He loved fishing, the open water and hunting.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Kuehl Gendron Placente, and three step-sons: Theodore Gendron, III; Daniel Gendron; and Nicholas Gendron, and his wife Tiffany. He also has four grandchildren: Travis Byers; and Grace, Madeline, and Shawn Gendron. Also surviving are his sister: Lois Braun, and husband Rene; and his nephew: Robert Braun, and his wife Silja, and their children: Christoffer and Tristan; and a niece: Linda Oroczo, and her husband, John; and sister-in-laws Ginger Placente and Lillian Powell. In addition to his parents, Roland was preceded in death by his brother David Placente.
A time of viewing and visitation will be held from 6 PM till 8 PM on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at the Watson Funeral Home, Millsboro, DE. A Chapel Service with Military Honors will be held at 1100 am at the Delaware Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Millsboro.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in his name to either the American Legion Post 24, P.O. Box 248, Dagsboro, DE 19939; or to the University of Pennsylvania, Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine, 3400 Civic Center Blvd., Philadelphia, PA 19104.
