Rudolph "Rudy" Joseph Spinka Jr.'s Obituary
Rudolph Joseph Spinka, Jr., affectionately known as Rudy, passed away at home in Hartly, Delaware. He was born on July 3, 1947, in Marydel, Delaware, the son of the late Rudolph Joseph and Katherine Leona (Bradley) Spinka.
Rudy was a farmer his entire life, a calling that reflected his strong work ethic, resourcefulness, and deep connection to the land. In addition to farming, he dedicated 43 years of service to George and Lynch, Inc., beginning in March of 1978. His commitment and loyalty were recognized in 2003 when he became a member of The George and Lynch Quarter Century Club. Rudy also gave generously of himself as a longtime pheresis donor at the Dover Donor Center of the Blood Bank of Delaware, making donations since 1988.
Known as a man who could fix anything, Rudy had a lifelong love of farm auctions and collected farm equipment—often having at least two of everything. He took joy in feeding wildlife, tending his garden filled with tomatoes and potatoes, and growing flowers. On his final ride from Wilmington to Millsboro, he passed countless places and projects he had worked on over the years, a quiet testament to the impact of his life’s work throughout the community.
Rudy was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Naomi Spinka, and stepchildren Michele Cathell, Matthew Slaughter and Nicole Hylton and their families.
Services will be held at a later date.
The family extends a special thank you to Joseph Lefner, Stoney Yerkes, the Marydel Fire Company, Michael Price, Katelyn Adkins, and the compassionate staff at Watson Funeral Home and Crematorium in Millsboro, Delaware, for their care, kindness, and support.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity, the Blood Bank of Delmarva at https://www.delmarvablood.org/support-us/give-a-financial-gift/ or to the Marydel Fire Company.
