RUTH ANN DUKES's Obituary
Mrs. Ruth Ann Dukes of Millsboro, DE passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2015. She was 88 years old. Ruth was born on September 26, 1926 in Dagsboro, DE to the late Raymond and Lillie Hudson Toomey. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Harley Dukes, Sr., her son, Harley Dukes, Jr. and her daughter, Annette Dukes. She retired from the State Of Delaware, where she worked as a Charge Attendant at the Stockley Center. She was a member of Carey's United Methodist Church, Carey's Camp Committee, past member of the VFW Auxiliary #7422, United Methodist Women and past Sunday school teacher. Ruth loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and they brought her great joy. She was devoted to and loved her family, as well as her church family and Carey's Camp family. She is survived by her son, Michael R. Dukes, Sr. and his wife Sherry of Salisbury, MD and her daughter, Dawn Lewis and her husband David K. of Millsboro, DE, a sister, Dolores Willey and her husband William of Georgetown, DE, six grandchildren, Kim Dalton, Michael Dukes, Jr., Mark Lynch, Chris Lynch, Meghan Shoemaker, and Kristin Dondarski along with nine great grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 18, 2015 at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, DE 19966, where friends may call after 1:00 PM for a time of visitation. Burial will be held privately at Dagsboro Redmen's Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Ruth's memory to Carey's Camp, c/o Donna Anderson, 24814 Bethesda Rd, Georgetown, DE 19947.
