Ruth J. Hudson's Obituary
Mrs. Ruth J. Hudson of Millsboro, Delaware passed away at her home on Friday, February 16, 2024, at the age of 96. Born on April 3, 1927 in Millsboro, she was the daughter of George and Ella (Moore) Johnson.
In 1945, Mrs. Hudson graduated from Millsboro High School and married her beloved husband Marshall Hudson in 1946. Working as a secretary and assistant office manager for Delmarva Power & Light, she retired in 1988 after 42 years of service. After attending Zoar United Methodist Church in her youth, she was a current member of Grace United Methodist Church in Millsboro. Mrs. Hudson was a past member of the Sussex Pines Country Club, the American Legion Post #28 Ladies Auxiliary, and the Vingt Cinq Club of Delmarva Power. Ruth was an avid golfer who loved to travel. She enjoyed going to the beach, playing cards, shopping, and collecting coins. Mrs. Hudson brightened the lives of others by faithfully keeping in touch through cards and letters.
Ruth loved her family and friends and will be dearly missed by all. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Marshall Hudson in 1977 after 31 years of marriage. She was also predeceased by her sister Elizabeth Smith and her brothers Granville, Richard, and Paul Johnson.
Mrs. Hudson is survived by five nieces and nephews: Robert Johnson and his wife Lou Ann of Millsboro, Thomas Johnson and his wife Monica of Laurel, Stanley Johnson and his wife Linda of Millsboro, Cindy Pusey and her husband Craig of Millsboro, and Judy Mills and her husband Harold of Delmar. She also leaves behind numerous grand-nieces/nephews, great-grand nieces/nephews, and thoughtful neighbors. For the past several years, Mrs. Hudson received wonderful care and companionship from Ms. Kimberly Leonard and Ms. Freda Brobst, for whom the family is forever grateful.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, DE 19966, where the viewing will begin at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at the Millsboro Cemetery, 360 E. State St., in Millsboro. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
