Sandra Mae Sahutsky's Obituary
Sandra Mae Sahutsky, 85, of Millsboro, DE, passed away peacefully and surrounded by love on November 13, 2025, at Christiana Care in Wilmington, DE. Known by most as Grannie, Sandra was born to parents James Ralph and Geraldine Gibson in Detroit, MI, on September 28, 1940. Sandra spent her early years in Detroit where she met her devoted husband of 63 years, George J. Sahutsky, who preceded her in death in 2023. After getting married, Sandra moved to Wallingford, PA, where she worked as an accountant for many years as well as owning and operating a Montgomery Wards catalog store with her husband, George, and being a devoted mother to her 2 boys. Sandra was also a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Chester Chapter #94 (PA) where she served as Worthy Matron in 1984-1985.
After her retirement in the early 2000's she and her husband relocated to Millsboro, DE, where they were active in many things. Sandra was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary at Post #28 where she worked bingo and shrimp night for many years. She also belonged to the bowling league at Millsboro Lanes. One of her greatest joys and accomplishments was her longtime membership to the Order of Eastern Star. After moving to DE she became a member of Unity Chapter #16 in Lewes where she served as Worthy Matron from 2003-2004. Sandra then went on to become Worthy Grand Matron of the DE Grand Chapter from 2011-2012.
Sandra is survived by sons, Robert Sahutsky and Peter Sahutsky. Her loving granddaughters, Nikki Lee Sahutsky, Kellie Rae Sahutsky, and Jen Bradley. As well as great-grandchildren, Beverly and Bryson Parks, Noah Harshbarger, and Benjamin Sahutsky. Sandra was preceded in death by her husband, George Sahutsky, her parents, James Ralph and Geraldine Gibson, her sister Roberta, and her granddaughter, Tiffany Lynn Sahutsky.
Sandra was a true example of a life full of love and service to others. Her legacy will live on through her love and lasting memories not just today but ALWAYS!!
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Watson Funeral Home & Crematorium, 211 South Washington Street, Millsboro, DE 19966, with a visitation beginning at 10:00 AM prior to the service.
