Obituary for Sara Lee (Layton) Tapman
Sara Lee (Layton) Tapman, born on February 24, 1942, in Ocean City, MD, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2025, in Seaford, DE. She was the daughter of the late Ebe and Elta (Hitchens) Layton.
After attending Indian River High School, Sara worked as a technician at Thermal American before continuing her career with the state of Delaware at the Stockley Center. She was known for her love of shopping and yard sales, as well as her enjoyment of playing the slots. She also took great pleasure in cooking Sunday dinners, watching television, especially Jeopardy!, making home repairs, and tending to her yard. She cherished the time spent with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, attending family reunions and talking on the phone with friends.
Sara was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Richard Russell Tapman; her grandson, Troy Bradford; and her siblings, Robert, Ebe, Kenny, Charlene, and Irene.
She is survived by her children, Jeffery Tapman (Tracey) and Sharon Bradford (William); her grandchildren, Lyndsey Swensen (Erik), William "Billy" Bradford, and Rebekah Savage (Ricky); and her great-grandchildren, Alex, Madison, Braydon, Mikey, and Lauren. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins who cherished her dearly.
A funeral service will be held on April 3, 2025, at Watson Funeral Home and Crematorium, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, DE 19966, at 11:00 AM, with a viewing from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM prior to the service. Interment will follow at Dagsboro Redmens Cemetery, Dagsboro, DE.
Sara will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
