Shirley M Hitchens' Obituary
Mrs. Shirley M. Hitchens of Georgetown, DE passed away at Beebe Medical Center on Tuesday, February 27, 2018. She was 77 years old.
Shirley was born in Selbyville, DE on July 23, 1940 to the late Walter and Travella McCabe Townsend. In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by her husband William R. Hitchens in 1971 and a Daughter Brenda Hitchens Shockley in 2006.
Shirley worked as a Union Administrator in the health care field. She enjoyed reading, word search puzzles, and coloring. She also liked watching college football and NASCAR racing. Her favorite drivers were Bill and Chase Elliott. One of her most favorite pastimes was watching her Soaps. She was a very independent woman, loving mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her son, Michael Hitchens of Georgetown, DE and a grandson Cameron Heck of Seaford, DE.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, March 5, 2018 at Carey's Cemetery in Millsboro, DE where she will be laid to rest with her husband and daughter.
