Shirley Elizabeth Jones' Obituary
Shirley Elizabeth Jones went home to be with Jesus on Monday, May 1, 2023, surrounded by those who loved her at Beebe Health Care in Lewes, DE.
She was born on October 27, 1944, in Laurel, DE to the late Johnny Jones Sr. and Retha Mae Jones. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother Calvin Lee Jones and her sister Kathleen Stanley.
Shirley received her early education at Ross Point School in Laurel, DE. She continued her education at William C. Jason Comprehensive School in Georgetown, DE.
Shirley was saved at St. Luke Baptist Church in Millsboro, DE under the leadership of Rev. Roland White. She was a Mother of the Church at the New Holy Trinity Church of God in Christ in Millsboro, DE under the leadership of Pastor Dexter Taylor. Mother Jones was a very active member, she enjoyed the worship experience, and the fellowship with her church family.
She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters Prophetess Shirlene Jones of Felton, DE, Cynthia and Andrea Jones of Millsboro, DE; two sons Apostle Randy (Lorrie) Jones of Milford, DE, Timothy Jones of Millsboro, DE: four sisters Phyllis (Willie) Savage of Harrington, DE: Inez Davis of Millsboro, DE; Thelma Agosto and Retha Isler of Bridgeville, DE: three brothers Rev. Johnny (Louise) Jones of Bridgeville, DE; Melvin Jones of Millsboro, DE and John Claude Jones of Bridgeville, DE; one aunt Darlene (David) Davis of Georgetown, DE; ten grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and numerous life -long friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, May 7, 2023, at St. John 2nd Baptist Church,
26602 Mt. Joy Rd, Millsboro, DE 19966, where friends may call from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM for viewing and visitation. Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery.
