Sue Cloude Toomey's Obituary
Sue Cloude Toomey, 83, of Millsboro, DE, passed away peacefully at her home on February 27, 2025. She was born on August 29, 1941, in New Market, VA, to the late Charles Hamilton Cloude, Sr. and M. Marguerite (McNeal) Cloude.
Sue’s early life was dedicated to both her education and career. She attended Delaware Technical & Community College, where she received certification as a Lab Technician. Sue worked in various laboratory positions for over 30 years, including at Sterwin Labs, now known as MERC. Afterward, she pursued a career in early childhood education, sharing her nurturing spirit and dedication with the children at Cozy Critters Daycare and Mother Goose in Sussex County.
Sue was proudly the "Queen" of the Red Hat Society until 2017, where she shared her lively spirit with many. Sue was an active and committed member of Shiloh Church in Laurel, DE, where she displayed her strong faith and devotion to her Lord and Savior.
An avid cook and baker, Sue took immense pride in her culinary creations, especially her cakes and wedding cakes, which were a source of great joy and satisfaction for her. Her passion for baking was only matched by her love for family and friends, and she will be remembered for the many meals, desserts, and special occasions she helped create.
Sue is preceded in death by her parents, as well as her siblings Charles Cloude, Ronnie Cloude, and Dinah Pearsal. She leaves behind three loving sons: Jesse, Roger, and Barry Mitchell; six grandchildren: Samantha Moore, Joshua Mitchell, Zach Mitchell, Christie Lynn Green, R. Allan Mitchell, William Mitchell; as well as many great-grandchildren, extended family, and countless friends whose lives she touched with love and kindness.
A Celebration of Sue’s Life will be held on Saturday April, 5th 2025 at 1 o'clock in the afternoon at Shiloh Community Church, 14181 Shiloh Church Rd, Laurel, DE 19956.
