SUELLA COOKE's Obituary
Sue Ella Lee Cooke went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 1, 2014. She was 97 years old. She was born to the late Thomas Mason and Blanche Rivers on February 25, 1917, in Sussex County, VA. Her older sister, Atha Virginia Mason preceded her in death. She worked the majority of her life providing domestic support for several families in the Seaford Area. Mother Cooke was a faithful member of the Church of God. She served as an Usher, a member of the Women's Choir, Communion Committee, a Sunday School Assistant Teacher, culminating as Mother of the Church. Sue Ella never sought a title or recognition, but distinguished herself through exuberant love for her Lord and Savior and an overwhelming capacity to love everyone. She embodied the spirit of ""Peace"". Sue Ella is survived by six children, Blanche Mitchell, George D. Cooke (Cornelia), Clinton E. Cooke (Amira), Joseph A. Cooke, Sr. (Aletha), Alvin W. Cooke and Clara M. Matthews (Tyrona). Additionally, she leaves behind 25 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, a special Daughter-in-Law (Lorraine Cooke), four Sisters-in-Law, Evelyn Birdsong, Ethel Cook, Phyllis Cook and Iona Hazzard and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins in both the Cooke and Rivers families, and friends, all of whom loved her immensely. A viewing will be held at 6 PM with a service starting at 7 PM on Friday, May 9, 2014 at the Lifeway Church of God, 7046 Seashore Hwy, Bridgeville, DE 19933. A home going service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, where friends may call after 10 AM, Also at the Lifeway Church of God. Burial will be held on Monday at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Letters of condolence may be emailed via www.watsonfh.com
