Susan M. Wilgus' Obituary
Susan Murray Wilgus, wife of William B. Wilgus, passed away at home in Millsboro on June 27, 2025, in the presence of her family. She was born on October 7th, 1951, in Philadelphia, the daughter of the late George R Murray, III, and Mary Ellen (Holmes) Murray.
Susan spent her childhood in Exton, Pennsylvania, and attended Downingtown High School. She continued her education at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital School of Nursing and, later, obtained Bachelor of Nursing and Master of Nursing degrees from Wilmington University. Her nursing career spanned 49 years. She was an Operating Room nurse for the majority of that time, primarily at Peninsula Regional Hospital, in Salisbury, Maryland, but finished her professional life as a Forensic Nurse Consultant with the Delaware Public Defender’s Office.
She found much joy in breeding and owning Boston Terriers, raising several champions. Traveling and participating in dog shows was a great delight. She was also an avid knitter and cross-stitcher, producing many fine works.
In addition to her parents, Susan was predeceased by her brothers, George R Murray, IV, and Walter Murray. She is survived by her husband and twin sons, Andrew B. Wilgus and Daniel M. Wilgus, both of Millsboro, a brother, Steve Murray, of La Plata, Maryland, a sister, Rachel Whiteley, of Eagle, Pennsylvania, and numerous nephews and nieces.
