THOMAS P SHEEHAN's Obituary
Thomas Patrick Sheehan, War Hero, Federal Administrative Law Judge. Mr. Sheehan, 95 years old, passed away February 25, 2016 at home in Millsboro. Mr. Sheehan served with the 10th Mountain Division in Italy during World War ll. It was there he received the Distinguished Service Cross, the United States' second highest honor, two Purple Hearts, the Bronze Star, two Battle Stars, and the Combat Infantry Badge. After the war, Mr. Sheehan returned to school and graduated with a law degree from Rutgers University. He practiced law with the Department of Labor and the Civil Aeronautics Board in Washington, D.C. He was appointed a Federal Administrative Law Judge in the late 1960s and was later authorized to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States. He was an avid outdoors-man enjoying hunting, fresh and salt water fishing, and golf. He was a history buff, enjoyed classical music and baking bread.
He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley (nee Buckalew). He is survived by a son, Thomas Sheehan, a daughter, Deborah Deck, grandchildren Ryan Deck, Robin Deck, and Christine Rowe, three great grandchildren, Everett, Cora, Lyla Deck and his extended family Beryl Deck, Pat Sheehan and Shannon Sheets.
In lieu of flowers donations should be made in his name to the Mid Atlantic Symphony Orchestra, POB 1697, Ocean Pines, MD 21811. His interment date at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors is expected to be established by the Cemetery in 3 to 6 months. There will be a local celebration of his life prior to his interment.
