TONY LEE DAVIS's Obituary
Tony Lee Davis of Georgetown, DE departed this life on Tuesday, March 5, 2013. He was 62 years old. He succumbed to lung cancer after a valiant fight. Mr. Davis was born on August 14, 1950, the son of the Mary Francis Davis and the late Walter Davis, Sr. He attended Millsboro Elementary School and the former William C. Jason Comprehensive High School in Georgetown, DE. Tony will be remembered as a very intelligent, good and kind person. Although he never married, he fathered one son, Tony Walston, and he loved him dearly. He mastered the game of checkers at a very young age and there was never an opponent he did not beat, young or old. He welcomed all opponents and decided he needed to broaden his horizon to a more difficult challenge. His favorite pass-time was playing chess. Chess was that challenge. He would sit for hours with his buddy, Truman Mason studying the game and laying out his strategies. At one point he joined a community chess challenge. He was an avid reader and without training could master any task he put his mind to. Tony loved life and lived each day with expectancy. He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Mary F. Davis of Georgetown, DE, a son, Tony Walston of Bridgeville, DE, three grandchildren, four sisters, Marvella Davis of Bridgeville, De, Sheila Boone (Joseph), of Greenville, NC, Louise Jones (Johnny) of Bridgeville, DE and Mona Showell (Kover) of Seaford, DE, two brothers, George Davis (Angie) of Wilmington, De and Walter Davis, Jr. of Georgetown, DE. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of extended relatives and friends. A viewing will be held from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at The Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, DE. Beginning at 12:00 Noon the family will open up a time for eulogies and special memories of Tony. Interment will be at St. John 2nd Baptist Church Cemetery, Mount Joy Millsboro, DE.
