Virginia West Millman's Obituary
Mrs. Virginia West Millman of Rehoboth Beach, DE passed away on Friday, January 8, 2016. She was 100 years young.
Virginia was born on May 18, 1915 to Harrison and Verdie West in Gumboro, DE. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Willard Millman; her sister, Mary West Baker; her niece, Mary Lou Baker Orendorf; her cousin, Annabelle Walston and her great nephew, David B. Baker.
She loved working in retail sales. She worked at Braun's Clothing Store in Georgetown for many years. After moving to Rehoboth Beach in 1968, she worked at Moore's Pharmacy and later worked at The Wooden Indian in Rehoboth and was seen walking the boardwalk to and from work well into her 70's. She was the oldest member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Rehoboth. Virginia was an extraordinary woman who lived a long, full life and had a multitude of friends of all ages.
Virginia is survived by her nephew, Victor Baker and his wife, Brenda of Gumboro; cousins, William H. Prettyman and his wife, Erma of Georgetown, Patricia Ingram of Lewes, Koretta Prettyman of Georgetown, and James Prettyman and his friend, Robert Bonham of Rehoboth; great nieces, Donna Lou Brittingham of Gumboro, Vicky Baker Evans and her husband, Les of Dagsboro, and Lori Jacobs and her husband, Billy of Dover; one great nephew, Jeff Baker and his wife, Michele of Georgetown, as well as several great-great nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by her devoted friend and caregiver, Jeanette Bonner, a loving, caring neighbor, Gil Thompson, and her "honorary" brother and friend, Roy Anderson.
A funeral service and celebration of her life will be held at 1 PM on Tuesday, January 12, where friends may call one hour prior for viewing at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, DE 19966. Burial will follow at Millsboro Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations to Epworth United Methodist Church, 19285 Holland Glade Rd, Rehoboth Beach, DE or Gumboro United Methodist Church, 37683 Collins Road, Millsboro, DE 19971.
