Wanda Gail Bennum's Obituary
Wanda Gail Bennum, of Millsboro, Delaware, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 12, 2026, at the Delaware Hospice Center. She was 72.
Mrs. Bennum was born on April 17, 1953, in Lampasas, Texas, to the late Jean and Lolie Dale Hudson. Although born in Texas while her father, Dale, was stationed there, she was raised in Millsboro, Delaware, which she proudly called home. There, she built a life defined by her devotion to family, a strong work ethic, and a deep commitment to her community.
Mrs. Bennum was a proud graduate of Sussex Central High School, Class of 1971. Known for her strong work ethic and dedication, she held many positions throughout her working years. She was employed by NCR (National Cash Register) for 10 years, Food Lion for 12 years as a cashier, and Melvin Joseph Construction for an impressive 29 years.
In her spare time, Mrs. Bennum enjoyed puzzles, aerobics, walking, collecting cherished items, dining out, and most of all, spending time with her family. She had a special love for Mustangs and was affectionately known around town as “Mustang Sally.”
Mrs. Bennum is survived by her devoted husband of 51 years, George Bennum II; her two children, Colleen Glasco and Andrew Bennum; and her three treasured grandchildren, Nathan, Nicholas, and Katie Glasco. She is also survived by her sisters, Karen Truitt (Jeff) and Lynn Lepter (Dave); her beloved canine companions, CoCo, Buttercup, and Midnight; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her dearly.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at Watson Funeral Home & Crematorium, 211 S. Washington Street, Millsboro, Delaware 19966. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. Interment will immediately follow at Millsboro Cemetery.
