William Frederick Fred Carey's Obituary
William Frederick Carey, of Millsboro, DE, passed away at home on October 8, 2025. He was born in Lewes, DE on December 3, 1948, son of the late Elijah Edward “Ned” and Beatrice (Wells) Carey “Bea”.
After graduating from high school, Fred continued his education at Goldey-Beacom College before proudly serving his country in the United States Air Force in Plattsburgh, NY. Following his military service, he worked for 35 years at the United States Postal Service.
William was a World War II enthusiast and enjoyed studying military history. He also loved cars and model trains, hobbies that brought him great joy throughout his life.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved son, Zachary Elijah Carey “Zach” who passed away on September 15, 2014.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife, “Vickie" Carey; daughter, Erin McBride; grandchildren, Noah McBride, Isabella “Bella” Carey and Aiden Carey, future daughter-in-law Emily Conner, brother, Ed Carey; brother-in-law, Atwood “Tim”. Timmons; and nieces Gina, & Tonya as well as great nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at a later date.
