William Davis Jr.'s Obituary
November 11, 1936 -January 1, 2024
William (known as Bill or Billy ) was born in Millsboro, DE on November 11, 1936, to the late William Wesley Davis Sr. and Phoebe Thompson Davis. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Maryland Davis; and a brother, Stanley Davis. and a very special cousin, George Thompson.
Billy spent the majority of his life farming. He would spend his early years farming with his Uncle Hersel Davis and his later years worked on Elwood Workman & Sons Farm for many years. Billy enjoyed attending the stock car races at Georgetown Speedway, horse racing, playing the lottery, playing horseshoes, and is also known by many as the older man (80+) who would ride his bike around the neighborhood known as Thompsonville and around the town of Millsboro picking up soda cans. Billy loved family events.
You would find him sitting underneath the big tree in the front yard with his family and friends.
Billy loved a good meal.
When his sister Maryland passed, His nieces Trina and Chandra would often bring him dinners.
His sister Joan was his caretaker and was able to fulfill his last wishes by bringing him home with her until he departed this life.
Billy spent his last Birthday, Thanksgiving and Christmas surrounded by those who loved him.
William is survived by one brother, Preston A. Davis of Seaford; and one sister, Joan E. Davis of Millsboro.
Billy also leaves behind 11 nieces and nephews, Sandra Davis, Jane Davis, Toney Floyd, Stanley Davis Jr., Trina Snowden, Preston Tull, Chandra Snead , Preston Cannon , Preston Lofland ,Karen Major, Twanya Dunn as well as numerous great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.
A funeral l service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, DE 19966, where the viewing will be from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Harmony Cemetery.
