WILLIAM CHARLES KIRKEY's Obituary
William Charles Kirkey of Long Neck, DE died on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes, DE. He was born in Mount Pleasant, MI on September 6, 1931 to the late Francis J. and Gladys Kirkey. He attended Notre Dame University and graduated from Michigan State University in 1955. He was an Electrical Engineer with Westinghouse for 25 years. During his career he spent many years working with NASA as a subcontractor and earned recognition for his contributions to putting a man on the moon. His name is on the Lunar Scroll on the moon and in the Library of Congress. He was an avid golfer for most of his life. He collected stamps, as well as dabbling in bird watching, horticulture, and genealogy. He earned his Master Gardner certificate and loved to read to relax. Bill loved, cared for, provided for, and supported his family always. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Judith W. Kirkey of Long Neck, DE. Surviving children are Timothy J. Kirkey of Forest Hill, MD and Elizabeth A. Kirkey of Georgetown, DE. He has 3 grandchildren, Kalleigh and Alexis Kirkey and Megan Hayden whom he loved dearly. He is also survived by his niece, Karen L. Rogers of Ballston Spa, NY and nephew, Thomas A. Dodge of Henderson, NV. He was preceded in death by his youngest son, Andrew C. Kirkey in July of 2011. There will be a public viewing at St. George's Episcopal Church in Harbeson, DE on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at 1:00pm. A memorial service will follow at 2:00pm officiated by The Rev. Lara S.
