Obituary of William Anders Olsen
William (Bill) Anders Olsen, 90, of Ocean View, DE passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 2, 2025 surrounded by his daughters after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Bill was born in Berwyn, Illinois on January 24, 1935, the son of the late Leo and Bernice Olsen.
After graduating from the University of Pittsburgh in 1959, Bill served in the US Army and then transitioned to a civilian position as an electrical engineer for the US Department of the Army at Fort Monmouth, NJ until his retirement in 1994. In May of 1965, he married Mary Anne McLane and they resided in Oakhurst, NJ. Bill also earned a masters in electrical engineering from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1973. Upon retirement, Bill and his wife moved to Ocean View, DE.
Bill was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Mary Anne, as well as his sister, Patricia Quellhorst, and two brothers, Russell and Neal. He is also predeceased by his son-in-law, Scott Van Horn.
He is survived by his two daughters, Andrea Burns and her husband Frank and daughter Emma of Rockville, MD and Gayle Van Horn and her children Charlie and Kinsey of Centreville, VA. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
