Larry Hurley
I worked closely with Barbara for many years at Behnke Nurseries, first at Largo, and then at Beltsville. She was a terrific person to work with as the Largo Office Manager, keeping things running on an even keel, balancing the demands of a colorful group of growing and retail staff. All this while always having a smile ready for one of my lame jokes.
In the Beltsville office she was again a steadying influence in an often chaotic atmosphere brought on by a very seasonal and weather-influenced business, a transition to more complex accounting systems, and some demanding personalities. It was always better when Barbara was around. She was always honest and was standup and a good person to have in your corner.
