Barbara Ann Gross' Obituary
Barbara Ann Gross, 88, of Millsboro, Delaware, passed away peacefully at home on May 27, 2025. Born on March 5, 1937, in Charleston, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Virginia (Jones) Davis.
Barbara grew up in Prince George's County, Maryland, where she met the love of her life, Bob Gross. The two were married for 54 years, building a life rooted in devotion, family, and shared purpose. After raising their family, they retired to Maryland's Eastern Shore and eventually made their home in Millsboro, Delaware, where they enjoyed their later years together.
Barbara dedicated much of her professional life to serving others, first at Suburban Bank and later as an office manager at Behnke's Nurseries. Her work ethic and dedication were matched only by her love for home and family. She found joy in gardening and landscaping, keeping a beautiful and tidy home, shopping for the perfect find, and preparing meals for those she loved.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Martin Gross; her parents; and her siblings: John Davis, Marion Dorsey, Everett Davis, Bill Davis, Susan Burney, and Lloyd "Jinx" Davis.
Barbara is survived by her five loving children: William W. Gross (Jennifer), Debra Marzec, Tracy Willfred, Robert Gross Jr. (Debra), and Patricia Becraft. She also leaves behind 12 cherished grandchildren who brought immense pride and joy to her life, as well as her sister, Nelsie Jameson, and her brother, Kermit Orndorff.
A private service to celebrate Barbara’s life will be held at a later date. Her warmth, humor, and nurturing spirit will be dearly missed and forever remembered by all who knew her.
