My sister, Peggy PHILLIPS White and I were just talking about family and was wondering about our first cousin, Betty PHILLIPS Esham and wondered about her. Something told me to check the obits online and so I did. Was shocked to learn that she had passed in June of this year. The last time I had seen her was at Calvin Lewis viewing and had a nice chat with her at that time. Betty had lived with us for a while and during the time my younger brother WAYNE was born in 1945.Our sincere sympathy goes out to all her family. What a wonderful lady. She was my Sunday school teacher. That is my first memory of her. I use to choose to sit close to her and Jimmy in church because they sang every song and they would sing loudly - this allowed me to sing as loud as I wanted and not be heard. I believe as a teenager she lived with Poppop and Mommom Collins before marrying Woody. She never missed a funeral of anyone from Gumboro. I am sad that I will not be able to attend her's. My thoughts and prayers go to Linda and the rest of her family. She will be a busy lady in heaven - reuniting with everyone and telling them about those left here on earth. May you rest in peace Ms Betty.
