Charles H Mitchell's Obituary
Charles Hill Mitchell, 93 of Millsboro, Delaware passed away February 9, 2018 at the Veteran's Home in Milford. He was a farmer and owner of Mission Farms. He dedicated his life to serving the youth of the community and making a difference. Mr. Mitchell was an avid sports fan who had season tickets to both University of Delaware and the Naval Academy. Mr. Mitchell spent his life serving the community in many ways. He was a life-long member of Grace United Methodist Church, where he was a Sunday School teacher for many years, held various leadership positions in the church, as well a member of choir. He was a member of the Indian River School Board and Sussex Technical School Board as well as the Delaware State School Board Association. He also served the youth of the area through Boy Scouts where he served as Cub Pack Leader for many years. He was awarded the Silver Beaver for his service to scouting. In addition he was the Player Agent for the Millsboro Little League for 54 years. Mr. Mitchell was instrumental in creating the Millsboro Public Library. Charles was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. Charles is survived by his wife of 64 years, Cecilia, a daughter Linda and her husband David, two sons, C.W and his wife Susie, and John and his wife Audra. He has 7 grandchildren Stephen Mitchell, Haley Mears and her husband Joe, Susan Quillen and her husband Ryan, Christopher Mitchell, Hilary Mitchell, Maggie Mitchell and Trey Mitchell. He also has 3 great-grandchildren Beau, Kora and Harley. There will a viewing on Sunday, February 11th from 4:00 to 6:00 at Watson Funeral Home in Millsboro, Delaware. A celebration of his life will be Monday, February 12th at 11:00 at Grace United Methodist Church in Millsboro, where friends can call from 9:00 until service starts at 11:00. In lieu of flowers family requests donations to the Millsboro Scout Hut, Millsboro Little League, Grace Church Foundation Endowment Fund or a charity of your choice.
