Doy Dennis Seabolt Jr.'s Obituary
Doy Dennis Seabolt, Jr., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, in Millsboro, DE, at the age of 73. Mr. Seabolt was born on February 6, 1951, in Baltimore, MD, to the late Doy D. Seabolt, Sr. and Mary Juanita Seabolt.
Dennis Seabolt grew up in Baltimore, where he graduated from Kenwood High School and went on to pursue further education at Towson College, before answering the call of duty to serve his country during the Vietnam War. As a proud Army veteran, he returned home to embark on a successful career as a boilermaker with Union Local 193.
After a fulfilling first career, Mr. Seabolt didn't settle into a quiet retirement; instead, he pursued a second career as an engineering technician at the United States Naval Academy (USNA), in Annapolis, MD. After 16 productive years at the USNA, he retired with the respect and admiration of his colleagues.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, George and Doyle Seabolt. His legacy lives on through his wife of 35 years, Tracey Leigh Seabolt; his son, Doy D. Seabolt, III, (Erin) of Abingdon, MD; his daughter, Kimberly Franke (Dale) of Perry Hall, MD; his sister, Karen Taylor of Baltimore, MD; his two grandchildren, Haley Seabolt and Brandon Franke; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Seabolt embraced life in Millsboro for the past seven years, having previously resided in Edgewater, MD. He was known for his love of a good cigar and a cold beer; his passion for golfing, boating, and riding his Harley; as well as his talent for photography. His happiest moments were spent with his wife; his beloved English Bulldog, Cujo; and his USNA Midshipmen student family.
Mr. Seabolt's commitment to service extended to his involvement with the American Legion Post 28 of Millsboro, DE, and Post 226 of Edgewater, MD, where he shared camaraderie and support with fellow veterans.
He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him. His spirit will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
A memorial gathering will be held on Monday, July 1, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at Watson Funeral Home & Crematorium, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, DE 19966. A celebration of life will be held Thursday, July 25, 2024, beginning at 2:30 PM, at the American Legion Post 226, 830 Mayo Road in Edgewater, MD 21037.
