EDWARD L SHEGOGUE's Obituary
Mr. Edward L. Shegogue of Millsboro, DE passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at the Delaware Hospice Center. He was 83 years old. Mr. Shegogue was born on September 24, 1932 in Oxon Hill, MD to the late Edward H. and Alice M. Earle Shegogue. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Betty in 2015, as well as three brothers, James, Arthur and George Clifton Shegogue. Edward was a member of the Eastern Shore Community Church of God in Georgetown, DE. He spent a career in the US Army, retiring as a Platoon Sergeant, and became active in the 793 Military Police Association; a life member of the 11th Armed Cavalry Regiment; Veterans of Vietnam and Cambodia. He was a member of the VFW Post 2931 of Georgetown/Ellendale; Vietnam Veterans Association Post 546 of Sussex Co.; and also the Disable Veterans Post 7; and the American Legion Post 28 in Millsboro.
He is survived by a daughter, Diana L. Shegogue-Damron and her husband Steve of Dover, DE; a son, Edward R. Shegogue, and his wife Darlene, of Mechanicsville, VA; stepson; Michael Darden Eure, and his wife Laurie, of Harpers Ferry, WV; and a step-daughter Gloria Faye McCabe of Raleigh NC; a brother, Earl Shegogue, a sister, Helen Fullerton; as well as three grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, military brothers and sisters, and his comrades in arms.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, June 17, 2016 at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, DE 19966, where friends may call one hour prior for a time of viewing and visitation. Interment with military honors will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Eastern Shore Community Church of God, 18793 DuPont Blvd, Georgetown, DE 19947.
