George W Schwobel's Obituary
Mr. George W. Schwobel of Lewes, DE passed away peacefully in the care on his family and Delaware Hospice on Tuesday, February 13, 2018. He was 84 years old.
Mr. Schwobel was born in Queens, NY on May 27, 1933. He retired from TWA Airlines where he worked as a Maintenance Mechanic. He moved to Lewes in 2009 from North Port Long Island NY.
George was a member of New Covenant Presbyterian Church in Lewes, DE. He was an avid fisherman and participated in shark tournaments in Montauk Point Long Island NY. He enjoyed traveling, bowling, golf, and all major sports. Most of all he loved woodworking, building furniture, cabinets, tables and chairs as well as crosses and other religious symbols.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, June R. Schwobel of Lewes, DE; two sons, George B. Schwobel and his wife Lucy of Lewes, DE and Robert M. Schwobel and his wife Lisa of Bluepoint L.I.N.Y, a sister, Madeline Burke of East Northport, NY, one grandson, Eric W. Schwobel and his wife Christina of Georgetown, DE; a great grandson, Alexander M. Schwobel as well as a special cousin Robert W. Diemer of Lewes, DE.
A viewing will be held on Friday, February 16, 2018 from 6 PM - 8 PM at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St. Millsboro, DE. A Celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at the New Covenant Presbyterian Church, 3072 Savannah E. Dr. Lewes, DE 19958.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions in George's memory to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
