Stephen G. Dressman's Obituary
We announce the passing of our dear brother, Stephen G. Dressman, 75, of Ocean Pines, Maryland, who died peacefully on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 2025, in Millsboro, Delaware.
Steve was the beloved son of the late Mary and Al Dressman. He grew up in Pittsburgh and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh. He established a distinguished career in Maryland, retiring as a Major from the Maryland Correctional system. Upon retirement, Steve moved to Ocean City, Maryland, where he invested in real estate and worked part-time at a local Food Lion.
A dedicated son, Steve ensured his elderly mother could escape the cold northern winters, taking her on thirteen memorable trips to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He had a kind heart, helping others discreetly when they faced hard times, and he sponsored children through various Catholic missions. He lived his faith quietly and was comforted by prayer and the Mass on EWTN when he was homebound.
Steve loved family gatherings and was known for his quick wit and playful banter. He was a favorite fun uncle to many nieces and nephews in the Dressman and Vargo families, frequently opening his home for family reunions. In Steve’s younger years, golf was his passion, and he spent many cherished days on the course with friends, always ready to share a joke and a laugh. Steve loved his dogs who provided endless comfort and quiet companionship through the years. It is fitting that he found rest in peace on Thanksgiving Day, a holiday he held dear.
Stephen is survived by his devoted min-pin, Maggie. He was a cherished brother to: Michael Dressman (Fran) of Houston, Texas; Christopher Dressman (Judi Pulizzano) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Ellen Dressman (Dennis Holten) of Inverness, California; Mary Lou Dressman-Conroy (Chris Conroy) of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania; Maureen Dressman of Lancaster, Pennsylvania; Marjorie Barnhart (Keith) of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Al Dressman, Jr. and his dear friend, Stephen Vargo.
The family wishes to thank the caring and dedicated staff at Ocean Grove Post Acute and Visiting Angels for their love and care during his extended illness.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Resurrection Parish, St. John Capistran Church, 1610 McMillan Road, Pittsburgh, PA. Interment will immediately follow at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, McMurray, PA.
In Steve’s remembrance, his family requests that you reach out to someone who is struggling or homebound and give them a gift of your time.
