Vaughn Wayne Oliphant, Sr.'s Obituary
Vaughn Wayne Oliphant, Sr., passed away at home with his family by his side on October 20, 2025. He was born in Gumboro, DE, on June 15, 1948, to the late Edward Elijah Oliphant and Delaphine (Mitchell) Oliphant. He was married to the late Shirley Oliphant for 45 years.
Vaughn worked as a chicken farmer most of his life and was in partnership with his son Wayne for over 30 years with Oliphant Builders, Inc.
He had a deep love for his farm which he purchased in 1979. He loved farming, gardening, and going to the casino. Most of all he cherished his time with his family especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought him great joy.
He is survived by his children, Wayne Oliphant (Christine) and Tony Oliphant (Jen); grandchildren: Megan Albright (Justen), Mindi Cooper (Connor), Madison Oliphant (Evan), and Seth Oliphant (Maddy); and great-grandchildren whom called him “Big PopPop”: Jonah, Croix, Banks and Millie; and his beloved grand dogs Ben & Murphy.
He is also survived by his siblings: Norma Short, Ronnie Oliphant, Becky Evans, Sherry Shultie, Doug Oliphant, Denny Oliphant, Lavessa Dennis, Peggy Jalot, and Rich Oliphant.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 12:00 pm at the Gumboro Volunteer Fire Company, 37030 Millsboro Highway, Millsboro, DE 19966.
